As we quickly approach the beginning of the 2020 tax season, we wanted to make our clients aware that this year we also will need your IRS Notice 1444, the statement of your Economic Income Payment. This notice provides information about the amount of your payment, how the payment was made and how to report any payment that wasn’t received.

For security reasons, the IRS mailed this notice to each recipient’s last known address within 15 days after the payment went out. The IRS is telling us that it’s especially important for people to have kept this notice if they think their payment amount is wrong. When you file your 2020 tax return, we can refer to Notice 1444 and claim additional credits, if you are eligible for them.

Please plan to send in your Notice 1444 with your other important tax documents when you are ready to have your taxes prepared.
